Citric Acid or Lemon Juice

Prepare the Mixture
In the spray bottle, mix 1 cup vinegar to 1 gallon of water of white vinegar and water. For tougher stains, you can increase the vinegar to 2 cups vinegar add half cup citric acid or 1 or 2 cups lemon juice.
Vinegar is highly reactive so it’s important look up whether or not you can add your disinfectant to deodorize. Isopropyl and Vinegar are not reactive, good to go at room temperatures.
Apply the Solution
Spray the affected area generously with the vinegar solution. Ensure that it is well-saturated but avoid oversaturating, which can lead to excess moisture and potential mold growth.
Let It Soak
Allow the solution to sit on the stain for at least 5-30 minutes. This soaking time helps to break down the urine compounds and lift the stain.
For larger area use the yard sprayer, at the end of the wand has a nozzle, take that nozzle off and pour the vinegar solution into the area.
Blot the Area & Extract
After soaking, take a clean cloth or paper towel and blot the area gently. Do not rub, as this can push the stain further into the fibers. Continue blotting until the area is mostly dry.
For larger areas or for ease utilize the wet shop vacuum.
Final Rinse
If possible get an Alkaline pH above 9pH. The carpet needs to not remain at a low pH to prevent the fibers softening and eroding away from foot traffic.
Apply the water, could be tap water depending on your area.
Reapply the disinfectant to deodorize to let dry with an active bacteria killing agent to have no odor.
Allow to Dry
Let the area air dry completely. Ensure good ventilation if possible to prevent any moisture-related issues.
Place the dehumidifier near a door way and place the floor fan on the far side of the room pointing toward the dehumidifier. 12 hours the areas should be dry. If it’s raining outside, check the dehumidifier to empty every 4 hours, if convenient. Use a space heater with plenty of room if you need hot dry air.
Following these steps will help effectively remove urine stains and odors using vinegar, keeping your carpets clean and fresh.
